Octane writes the museum has R12, this one is R13. R12 retired early in race, R13 finished second at Le Mans.
Agree, car is the ultimate 911 racer. Always loved its shape and open rear with Turbos visible below...How many are left in this unrestored state and with this pedigree...count. In

    Turbo ... one not two.

But I agree with you. The 2.1RSR is my favorite 911 race car ... ever.

Also, if I had the choice, I'd opt for R5. That one is the 73RSR that had moderate success in Europe and then went on to be built into one of the first RSR 2.1s (maybe even THE first one). KJ made it back into a 73RSR for the American owner, and then it went to Europe where it was converted back to 2.1RSR specs by MF. It's currently in France.

It seems that R5 is still in its 2.8 RSR configuration, but another car was built using the 2.1 Turbo parts.

Where did you see/hear this? I had a friend in France recently who visited a collection and saw a 2.1 that was represented as R5. Additionally, I read somewhere earlier today that said Freisinger put R5 back to 2.1 spec in 2014 for Classic Le Mans.

I think Uncle KJ knows for sure...

Various French magazines. Work done by the garage Bourgoin, in Poitiers.
The LMC 2014 car was already the copy.
