    Couple of questions about 72my

    Hi gals and guys,

New member here, I recently acquired a 72 T, got a few questions about it, any answer is appreciated.

As far as I know, the car has been in a serious restoration a few years back, its current state is a RS replica, inside and out.
The engine has been upgraded to 2.7lt with correct internals and parts from rs "catalogue".
However, I am the kind of guy that can not rest easy if I do not strip it to bare metal and return it to original state, or at least restore it my way, clean slate, so a complete restoration looms in the future.
I will update the suspension, transmission, diff, engine, brakes, electrical under structure and interior for a better (read easy going) driving experience.
For the purists, I will not add anything that is not already on the car, just better and newer of everything.

    Here are some of my questions;
Are all 72s have the external oil tank filler? (mine does not have, but maybe the old wheel arch had it), if so I would like to take it back to its original place.
Where can I have information about the specs of the car when it left the factory? Any mail address you know, I'm sure there is a better alternative than support@porsche.com
Any good source to find hd pictures of correct interior/exterior of 72t/e/s (lots of different interiors, probably some of them custom, not counting singer/etc).

Lastly any advice is appreciated, like, I would like to remove the ducktail (although i like the look), front and rear bumpers of rs and return the original, but I would like to keep the rs rear wheel arches, black rear grill and black horn grilles/light frames, can't visualize whether will it look out of proportion or it's something frowned upon. Surely each to its own, what I am asking is mostly like if there is a "known" not to do list.

That is all for now, probably will have more questions to come..

    thank you
    aamet.

Yes, all '72's had the external oil flap. Why don't you post your vin so we can narrow down your approximate build month. Porsche changed some things at different times. Also, search here and you'll find the answers to most of your questions. We've discussed just about everything at one time or another.

Any signs of the original oil filter console opening from 72?

Nope, but in any case aren't the rear fenders different than original?
You asking maybe they just enlarged the originals and closed/welded the oil filler door?
Hmm, I thought they just replaced the whole rear fenders while doing the replification (is that a word?)
    Should dig a little more..

It looks like a 73 oil tank is installed, they would have had to have done some serious work to open up the inner fender panel for that tank. Was wondering if there was evidence of the work to close off the original 72 console.

I have a low mileage highly original USA 72 (MFI car though) that I can use as a reference for anything you want pics of or need to know (within my low knowledge scope).
