Last weekend I drove SHE to a classic Porsche cars meeting taking place in ARRAS, North. Weather was nice, 25°C and sunny. Was driving on curvy roads and enjoying the 2.0 S spec, but not for long : a kinda rotten egg smell got into my nose. I knew immediately it would come from the battery. You bet : it was smoking, noisy and bloody hot (faulty battery regulator). Was only 20 km from destination, decide to switch on high beam, fans, not reving the engine too much.
As soon as I could get into the underground car park in Arras, a very obvious gas smell into the cockpit, got the car parked and realized that I lost half of my gas tank in a matter of second (would say 10-15 liters) - a huge puddle of fuel under the car. Immediately I warn the car park guy and got the gas wiped.
Could not attend the meeting. Diagnostic is pretty straight : faulty battery regulator and old perforated fuel hose. Had not the parts to repair in hands.
Found a local mechanic, should get her back home next week.

SHE has been selected to compete in the Vintage Porsche group at the prestigious "Les Grandes Heures Automobiles" @ Autodrome de Linas Montlhéry on September 29th and 30th.
The Vintage Porsche group is composed of 35 Porsche before 1989 and contains RS, RSR, 914/6, 912 etc.
The goal is to get 4 sessions (incl. one at night) and "simulate" a make the show.
LGHA has been selected alongside with Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lime Rock Park Historic Grand Prix, ZOUTE GRAND PRIX and Le Mans Classic to be awarded as "Historic Motoring award of the Year"
I will do the 911L POA Wetanson livery.
Racing suit is ready. Right patches on it.

SHE was just fine, the new installed 2.0S Engine HC is just WOW.
Les Grandes Heures Automobiles, Linas-Montlhéry Race Track. 43 Porsches on track.
Et voilà :

Oh yes Eric I did enjoy a lot.
The 2.0 is something ! As I stated before, each time I need to "work" something on SHE, I would love to use parts/mods to get as closest as possible to the racing 911L using 901/30 engine
Maybe you can help me on 2 points here :
- what reference/type did the 911L with 901/30 engine did use as clutch/clutch mechanism ?
- What reference/type did the 911L with 901/30 engine did use as shocks ? Koni ?
All the best.

Great !
I'm pleased to know that you were finally able to enjoy SHE on a track.
As I need to make some maintenance on the shocks and clutch to SHE, as said I'll move closer to the 68 FIA Grp2 spec.
I know that it will not be, anytime, anywhere, anyhow an official werk ones, but...
According to the "Information Regarding PORSCHE Vehicules Used fo Sports Purpose" First edition, the 911L Group2 should have:
Clutch : It is mentioned of a 911S competition clutch (p.13) instead of a Carrera 6 clutch. The plate is noted 901.116.014.00 which looks like std 65-68 911 one. this is where I start to be confused - it says competition clutch but gives page 61 a std part reference. Any idea of what is the 911S competition clutch ?
For the pressure plate, stated page 61 ref : 901.116.003.01, std one for 911S (is the 911L the same ?)
Shocks are Koni, according to page 40 standard 911S adjustable Konis are the ones to be used. Those are under references: 901.341.067.05 (front) & 901.333.051.12 (rear)
Stabilizer, page 41 should be 16mm for both front and rear alongside with 23mm rear torsion bars. Any clue of the bushing quality to be used with (stock/regular? I mean in 1967/1968)
I'll start to source those parts soon.
Cheers.
