Wow, real nice.
Nice Dave. Love ragtops.
Very cool Tony! Are those your underpants on the hood?
Don't know how you guys feel but Bugs are such an important part of my growing up (?) I will always own one; whether I drive it or not. They're not worth anything so what's the point in selling?
Lol.
That was going to be my follow up!
I have some NOS parts for that beauty.
My first car, a '54 that I bought with lawn mowing money in 1969. The front and rear aprons were a bit ragged, so we did what everyone else did back then...Baja! You'll note the lawn mowing couldn't quite fund proper wheels and tires to fill the fiberglass, or pants of the correct length. (Priorities.) I credit my dad (pictured), this car, and the '65 that took me through college, with developing some sense of mechanical aptitude.

Fast forward about 40 years. My son needed a senior project and wondered what to do. Like most kids of his time, he didn't know diddly about automotive stuff. It was the perfect time for him to learn the difference between a carburetor and distributor. We found a '65 sunroof with a seized motor. With "adult supervision", he pulled the motor and stripped it to the spun bearing. A few weeks later, he drove it to school for his presentation.

A few years ago, I found the identical twin to my old bug. The sounds and smells are like stepping into a time machine. Mom and Dad like this one, too.

Awesome story and kudos to your son!
I don’t know too many Porsche guys who weren’t weaned on Bugs.
