    Fair enough - some of the roads will be different as we try to minimise highways and favor twisty-curvy roads. :-)

    A bit of update - I had several feedback about the Stelvio part which might be a bit difficult to make with the carburator engine, Stelvio road is up to 2700 meters altitude and could cause some mixture issues. Any feedback on that ?

    I did the timmelsjoch with 2.509m
    https://www.timmelsjoch.com/en//
    ....
    with the 912....
    the engine had nearby no air left to breath, but it was the final day of a 5 hill mountain rally in the dolomites...
    even if..
    you climb slow and it should be manageable.
    more important are the brakes and the fading on the downhill section!!!

    I may think about a different route though as it might be touchy to tune the carbs, and from my end am not willing to touch anything on my car (but the steering wheel and throttle).

    I have in mind to propose another checkpoint on the west coast of France, with a sailing part :-)
    So it would look like Stuttgart - Schwarzwald-Jura area, crossing France, La Baule with the sailing race, back to Paris.

    Cheers.

    I would like to draw your attention this is « ŕ la bonne franquette » meaning the main points are managed but you will still have to do things and manage your expenses.

    Few itinerary tips.

    • from Versailles to Spa (Belgium) the plan tis to go via Highways to get there fast. Set your GPS accordingly Lunch is top to you.
    • from Spa to Stuttgart the fun is to drive on German’s highways (some portions have no speed limit). Set your GPS accordingly. Lunch is top to you.
    • from Stuttgart to Mulhouse, I will provide a very curvy road book through the Black Forest with a very typical lunch in the middle of it.
    • At La Baule, there will be a sailing race organized by « Latitude voile https://www.latitude-voile.com/» on us if the weather is fine, else I have already in mind somme cool games.

    More to come on the rest of the trip.

    EVENT REGISTRATION :https://www.classictribute.com/evenements

    Dear all,

    Since years I dream, we all dream about an European event for Early air-cooled Porsches, for us Sreg members and classic car fans.
    There were attempts some with success, others with less.
    There are many Carrera xxx or Targa yyy in the USA for Porsches and other brands.
    There is "Le Tour Auto", "Liege Rome Liege" etc.. dedicated to classics but for some with FIA or technical contraints.

    Important : I have now asked a professional event agency to help managing the logistics and event registration.
    https://www.classictribute.com/

    To be clear : I have acquired an event management business company (former name "l'étrier"), which is now called Classic Tribute.
    On top of my other businesses, I am personally supervising this event, and believe me my passion is in.

    Now it is time to make a road marathon made to early cars and our Porsche air cooled in Europe, our run.
    The principle is to drive 200 to 300 km per day through touristic roads (ban the motorways), 5 days, 5 fun trials.
    Doing a road marathon (marathon de la route) like for our precious, beloved and old cars, having fun, having technical assistance with us, mark the Porsche centers on the trip, get some cool but nice hotels (and evenings) etc.

    This is the "Challenge de la route", and it will happen every year, among other events.

    Starting points, go by points, destination per day. Easy road book. No rush, rough timeline,.
    Encouraging team/écurie designs etc...

    The event is opened to other participants outside of the ESR, but same rules apply.

    Dates: May 28th morning to June 1st evening
    Challenge de la route : 5 days, 5 drives, 5 trials - 1000km

    This is now full inclusive (Hotel, breakfast, lunch, diner, activities).

    Journey (final):
    May 28, 2019 - Stage 1: Versailles -> Le MansA little drive
    Nice lunch together at Le Mans.
    An activity to digest, a test to wake up (Trial 1).
    Dinner and bedtime at Le Mans

    May 29, 2019 - Stage 2 - Le Mans -> La Baule
    A little drive to reaching La Baule.
    Light lunch (better) for the following activities.
    We will see if you have nice leftovers for Trial 2.

    May 30, 2019 - Stage 3 - La Baule -> Villandry
    A few nice kilometers to reach Villandry.
    A bucolic meal is waiting for us but it will be worth it through trial 3.
    Visit of the castle and its magnificent park.
    Dodo.

    31st May 2019 - Stage 4 - Villandry -> Magny-Cours
    2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, we move to join the lunch break.
    Hello? Here's Manet.
    Compulsory team work for trial 4.
    Dinner at the hotel, and if it's hot: swimming at will.

    1st June 2019 - Stage 5 - Magny-Cours -> Versailles
    A short drive to recall memories.
    A lunch, well settled, wondering what will be the last trial.
    Surprise for the trial 5.
    Free walk around in the alleys of the castle park.
    Closing evening and awards ceremony.

    Accommodations / Expenses (one car on driver - co-driver on top)
    Fees will include :
    Roadbook, rallye plate, stickers, goodies, good fun and more.
    Hotel twin room - from May28th evening to June 1st morning (5 nights) including breakfast
    Lunch and diner
    All Museum tickets for one person -
    additional on top
    All activities

    No included in fee (pay as you go):

    - Backdate and Tribute cars using up to G-model chassis.
    - Hotrods allowed but must be equipped with Porsche air-cooled engine up to G-model chassis.
    - Other classic cars may join.

    Navigation :
    - A single driver with a GPS using European maps is ok - Co-driver on board could be a good idea.
    - Navigator not needed. road book instructions are gonna be easy to read.

    Rules/Regulations :
    - For Schengen citizens : just make sure you have a valid car insurance covering European countries
    - For European NON Schengen : Contact the local French Embassy and make sure you do/don't need an international driving licence (free in France) -
    just make sure you have a valid car insurance covering the European countries
    - NON European citizen :
    Contact the local French Embassy and make sure you do/don't need an international driving licence for driving in Europe (free in France) - just make sure you have a valid car insurance covering the European countries
    List of countries to be communicated later - should be Schengen countries.

    Shipping/Other :
    - As far as I know, renting an eligible car locally to go and run is very very difficult and expensive.
    - For our non European fellows - either you have a local friend here who may lend his/her car to you, or you have a local friend here whom participate in and you are a co-driver/navigator, or you ship your car in and back. Last option needs investigation, please pm me for more details. Shipping a car from the USA should the around 1000USD return + insurance (likely 3%) - shipping company is your own choice, happy to be the local contact point in France.

    - It usually takes 2 weeks oversea transportation which you have to add paperwork, going to the port etc..
