Keith Martin/Prescott Kelly on Porsche collector prospects

    1. Buyers are younger--most in 35-54 age cohort.
    2. Post 90 Porsche built "hot rods" very popular with new buyers
    3. Buy 90-2011 911 variants
    4. Sell-356s--Boomer boom is now headed for Sunny Acres
    5. Hold 64-73 911s and 90-94 964s.

Im stuck at the word prospect. Are our cars and passion being commoditized again? Buy Porsche stock and enjoy playing with that. With emissions cheating being SOP I dont recommend that at this time. How did Mr. Piech escape the big scandal? By the hair on his chinny chin chin? I digress.

I have to agree with Scott; best and only worthwhile takeaway here is that many of us are not as old as we thought.

The rest is boring. (Although I just bought another 996TT because they’re an incredible bargain ATM; can’t disagree with that bit of opinion.)

Here’s my much regurgitated take: Since ALL OF US are financially solvent don’t get too excited about value and just enjoy the ride.

I think its an excellent resume.
Because it shows where tendency go..collecting, “investing” or not.
People used to buy earlys because they were fun but cheap, now it can be said on any 996 or 997.

Well, you're as young as you feel and frankly I've never given two $#*ts about "value" so will happily wheel my 356 towards Sunny Acres.

Since I'm NOT as old as many wrinkled Speedster owners are, any chance they'll lower their prices before heading to the great beyond?

    Probably not.

Then you would be happy to sell me the 914/6 for what you paid for it?? I know few that can afford not to care about a 6 figure item they have sitting around and most of my friends are now retired doctors. Also the future market is important to anyone thinking about buying. 356--be picky and dont be afraid to negotiate hard. Up and coming car--if you like it buy it now. Of course that does not apply to anyone who does not care about many thousands of after-tax dollars.

Perhaps one of the best comments made on this site. I, for one, am tired about the endless drivel concerning values, trends. resale, etc.

I just thrashed the shit out of this 72 yesterday and dropped close to 10 seconds off the time when I was last at this track a few years ago.lucky its in the hold range.
I've looked at 964 but all the ones here were delivered with sunroof (except rs) and the local rs models are mad prices, should of bought the uk 964rs I researched years back when the Aus dollar was at parity for what was peanuts now.

Remember that one prognosticated on the now deflated 76-77 (and 78-79) Turbo market. (10/14 Pano) The rest of the '86-'89 cars are flat as Kansas.
