Steel wheel color for a 1967... matte, satin or gloss?

    Hi guys:

    Long time, no post...

My 1967 911S is still under restoration and is still a long way from being ready, but I have been using a lot my 912, and since both cars share a lot (though not wheels), I thought I would ask here:

I am getting ready to change tires on my 1967 912. I already bought a set of Vredestein tires but before fitting them I want to ask on steel wheel original color. The wheels were already sandblasted and primed and I am ready to paint.

I understand the color should be silver, of course, but is there a guideline as to some particular silver color? Matte, Satin or gloss? I suppose Satin but I thought I'd better ask.

    Thanks for any advice!

I was told by an expert that VW Arctic Silver is correct. I used it and I think it looks correct. Your call!

Ed, do you have a colour code for that as there seem to be different variants...
    Thanks

What about glossy, satin or matte? I am guessing it should be satin, but it is just my guess. What would the experts say?

    Thanks,
    Victor

It was a body shop that painted mine, I would call it glossy. I like it,,,,it's all subjective.

It's a VW color on Glasurit. That said, Audi has had some association with Porsche...

    Try

Stoddard 356 Porsche as a source:

SIC-999-150-10 Wurth Satin Silver Lacquer Wheel Paint - Perfect for Steel Wheels. $29.60

Also the same early 911 color and finish.
