Driver's side mirror placement, pre 1972

    Hi

I searched for "mirror" and scrolled through 10 pages of threads without finding a good instruction where the mirror mounting holes are located on the left hand door. What I did learn was that the large round Durant mirror was used up until some time in 1972, when the switch was made to the flag mirror. It is also my understanding that the holes were in the same locations up until that point(?).

Now, I have looked in the factory Workshop Manual and I cannot find a drawing illustrating where the holes should be located. Does anyone have a drawing or other guidance?

    Cheers!

    Johan

Here are three pictures of an original December, 1968 build (M/Y 1969) Karmann coupe. Because it is original I didn't remove the rubber plugs to expose the bolt heads for fear they would not survive. With hard copies of the photographs and a set of calipers applied to the scales you should have no difficulty determining the proper position for the holes to mount a Durant mirror.
