    Hi Stephen,

might be my fault, cause I´m not an English speaking native. The stamping is 611. The VDM stamping had been discussed here already and lead to the conclusion that 611 is tantamount to November of 1966 stamped.

If the number in the center is a date.......then what`s the date of my aluminum/wood wheel shown in these pics?? There`s no "VDM" stamp on this wheel.

I don´t know. Your numbers size is larger and there is no VDM stamp close to the datestamp.
Might the steering wheel police chime in,,,,in another tread..

Stamps are not worth trying to decode.

From what I've read (and seen) only early alloy steering wheels had large serif numbers... probably a production number and nothing more. Steel wheels all seem to be marked the same. Although very light, the aluminum versions flexed way too much causing cracks (and worse in accidents)
so Porsche switched to steel for the wood-rim option.

I once had an extended hub alloy wheel stamped 1959, no other markings. Steelies are common in comparison, but still desirable. GLWTS.

The Wheel Police may correct me at any time.
