Which is early, which is late, and when was the cutoff date in production? I would love to know this!

    Hi Rob,

Not easy to say, the top ones with the springs are used into 1973. I have them in the RS. Others no idea to be honest.

    Cees -

I have a picture of the door hinge area of RS 1258, I think, and it uses the later type!

Apologies to the OP for derailing his thread!

    Hi Rob,

Most of the RS's I have seen (and other 73 build cars) have this type, although the 9/72 spare parts manual list the one with the springs (911.531.037.00) called door bracket until end of 1972. For model 1973 the part number is 911.531.057.01 and the picture is the same as the other pair I have for sale. Mmm may be I should keep the other ones and replace them in my RS! We need more expert opinions! Thanks for bringing this up.

Set of door brackets have been sold. Thanks board! I think I'll stick to the later ones for now. I see that there are two versions of the ones in the last picture. So which is from 1973?

My 3/73 911 has the spring version. You can buy rebuild kits for these and new aluminum arms online. The roller wheels collapse and round off the aluminum, but that’s easily replaced.

My 9/73 build 1974 911 has the round runner backs which are like the old 356 door catches.

Finally the square back models are from the heavier door 1980’s 911’s and will cause popping noises on the lighter doors of the early stuff.
