WTT: Alternator with 24MM nut for 1974 OEM Alternator

I went to remove my alternator for a rebuild and thought that it was odd to have a 24 MM nut on it.

When I picked it up from rebuilding, my shop said “this isn’t original to your ‘74 911.” After they rebuilt it of course.

So I’m looking to learn what model 911 that this came out of, and looking to trade for the correct 1974 Alternator for the 1974 and perhaps swap fans too.

Any clues to this part’s origination gang?

That's a contemporary replacement probably sold before Valeo discontinued the SEV-Marchal branding. The original alternator never came with internal voltage regulator. If you go back to original style SEV you'll need to wire in a regulator (no big deal).
Just curious: Why do you want to "swap" fans?

Thank you. Well, I assumed that with the larger diameter shaft, for the 24MM nut, the fan hole would be larger than stock too.

Seems like the 1980 911’s had this larger nut unit. Maybe I just put a 24MM wrench in the tool kit.

    All take the same fan.

The larger shaft is directly related to the internal voltage regulator type alternators which were OE on later SC's.
I'd keep what you have and buy a wrench.
