I have a 1965 MY 911 specially ordered from the factory in a 1966 colour Aga Blue 6608.
Just wondered, are there any others out there?

Not another 1965 MY car to my knowledge. It is rather unusual for a car to be painted with the next model year color. I would love to learn a lot more about this one. I'll PM.

Thanks Felix. Do you happen to have photos of the paint badge, the dash and a COA or Kardex? I have a healthy scepticism of the data on that website. I prefer to have documentation to support the data in cases where there may be some question of validity. Certainly, the many changes from 65MY to 66MY makes it difficult to ascertain the correct model year.

To my understanding, there are no color codes that start with prefix 65. Early 65 cars used 356 colors with prefix 64 for standard colors. The first color chart showing 66 prefix was printed in May of 65. I have a COA for a 65 911 built 5-25-65 with color code 6602, Polo Red, so they were starting to use 66 colors on true 65 cars as early of May 65. This explains the Sand Beige/6607 on the very early 912 of Felix; 912s began production in the "spring of 1965." Why did they start using 66 colors so early in 65? Only someone involved in the factory at that time can answer these types of questions -- time is running out to find such persons!

Sorry about the name! At least your dad didn't call you Sue! (old Johnny Cash song).
I took a closer look at my COA for the Polo Red/6602 911 and although COA clearly states production date of 05/25/1965, the 302122 chassis number lines up with an August 65 build date as an early 66 model. I know they built these cars out of sequence, but most likely this is another example of inaccurate COA. In any case, the 66 color chart was printed in May of 65 and the factory could have offered these colors early.
