I used this product from Summit and it works very well, there is enough for two panels .

Ignition spot on I also heard if lean same issue checked plugs all suitable black so guess not running lean either

It has, in my opinion, only been this hot since the engine rebuild though.

Thanks for all the heat shield suggestions if I can't get to the root of the issue then I guess this is a solution

A shield can do the trick, but (high) heat transfers through aluminum easily. Similar to the stick on product, if a panel were 'jet coated' at the rear that result would work well.

My guess is when engine is broken in some the temp will drop. We now dyno all engines, it is the easy way to rule out problems, run the engine in, set mixtures and ignition. Then service the engine and install in the car.

in my case the overheating was caused by a leaking vacuum hose to the ignition distributor which lead to a retarded ignition

Interesting Dirk your the 2nd one to mention retarded ignition

I went for a drive tonight very cool air and a very hot licence plate panel.

Gordon we will see as over the next week probably going to rack up 1000km

Can't make it any worse than it is just need to see if I can isolate the cause

What has tuning got to do with heat at the back end??
On a purely light hearted note,,
This could be colour related and a window out respray may be in order.

Ok ok, in my case the respray was more likely done with a gold spray rattle can

other solution is shown in this thread#10
