Rennsport for a 1st timer

Driving out from Iowa with my brother in two 911SC's. I would love to hear recommendations on how best to enjoy the event. I've been to the vintage races at Road America a couple times, but never to RR.

I'll be there Friday-Sunday.

It is good your are there for 3 days.
I go to laguna seca every year.

We bring lawn chairs/blanket and set them up early under a tree, at turn 3. Then we have a home base.
We bring lots of our own food, and leave it at home base.
Then we walk all over. Every corner. Every bridge. To the top of the hill.
The pits are a big deal. Walk every row. Twice.
There are about 25 venders, inside the track. Walk that twice.
Then walk to Porsche parking. In several places.

It is very hilly, even mountain-y.
Sometimes it is very hot, very sunny and dry and dusty.
Very little shade except at turn 3 and the top of the hill.
Apparently, the 919 is going to try a record run, don’t miss that.

Camping is fun, but can also make for a very long day with little rest.
I just drive home, because I live nearby.

(By the way, I looked for my fathers 1969 coupe, that he bought new and sold after ten years,
I looked for it for about 30 years, I memorized the VIN, and one day I found it, and had my brother buy it. Which we drove to luft5)

I will also be attending Rennsport Reunion for the first time this year, but only on Saturday. I'm taking a family vacation to SF and Yosemite and was able to sneak away for only one day.

So any advice is welcome for a one day experience.

We’ll be trailering in Chris Pomares’ 912 Polo from Denver. First timers too. If anybody who’s driving that route want to connect or caravan, shoot Chris or I a pm. Really looking forward to it.

Great advice - for me the, secret to Laguna Seca is to bring a chair and big hat and be prepared to walk - lots. The grandstands are a good plan B if you don't want to carry a chair, but on a hot day it can be brutal. At the last RR, the car show in the parking lot was overwhelming - I plan to set aside several hours to just walk the parking lot this time around. First timers need to take their time in the pits and make the effort to walk up to view the corkscrew - they sell cold beer and food up top! We are planning ti drive up from Orange County on Thursday via the newly opened Highway 1! Hope to see lots of cars on the road up

Also. Dont miss driving over Laureles Grade Road over to Baja Cantina for a late afternoon beer and tacos. It is a big car hang out.

30 years hunting for your dad's car. Amazing. I don't even have a VIN, so it's pretty hopeless.

Yes, Baja Cantina is on the list! As is a drive down to Bixby bridge.

This is great info, I'm racing two cars at the vent. SO time is limited but I'd like to see as much as I can. Coming in from Toronto Canada so first timer here too!
