    Donations

What happened to the "Donations" shotgun blast? Can't find a single one now.

Chuck, may I suggest that you make one a Sticky in General? Never be ashamed to ask for money when you're willing to work for it.

May I also suggest that we be allowed to buy offsets or Get Out of Jail Free Cards? When someone crosses the line and makes a controversial comment the post stays up as long as a ducat is redeemed. Let's call them Indulgences.

I wonder how many of the freeloaders who won't spend the money to join will coughed up the 1%? Oh and this is how you can get the toothpaste back in the tube... give the freeloaders 30 day to join and those that don't give them view only privileges and paid classifieds. Honestly what have we got to loose their not paying anyway.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Gotta say, one of the smart things Rennlist does: Only paid members can post ads for their cars or parts. I think it's pretty reasonable, and the nominal yearly membership fee makes it a no-brainer even if, like me, you don't list stuff there. It's also a feel-good...one that would be much better here, given that Early 911S Registry doesn't belong to a $1B corporation next to LAX.

I use RL a lot more than I'm on this site, but still see Early 911S Registry as an important part of the landscape filled with more reasonable people—well, mostly...—kinda like 914world.

I've only joined as a paying member recently because I felt that this board contributed so much to my knowledge and project (and finding parts, etc) that i felt I needed to do something back. I have however been lurking for almost 10 years, albeit with less than a 100 posts.
But, the problem with your approach is that the reason why the early911sregistry is such a treasure for data is that the odd lurker posts and provides data.
If you limit those folks from posting, the input may reduce and hence the added value of the board.
I think a better way indeed (as suggested per RL method) is to restrict non-(paying) members from advertising, unless policing is going to be complicating.

I agree with Pete also, if you are going to advertise here, car for sale or parts you need to pay up. Believe me it is a bargain!!

It’s not just free classifieds that people take advantage of. As it is they get to have their own free auction by posting a “price check” thread.
