incorrect engine bay on some '64 also on ruf and seinfelds

just noticed that some of the restored `64 do have a incorrect engine bay welded in.. seinfelds and rufs as well.
they used a later style part and flatened it...but forgot about a detail.

i find it a bit funny spending multiple 10K in a restoration and...... once you open the lid BAMMM.

    oops. Nice catch.

Once again points to the "evolution" of restorations. As we gather more data about these early cars the quality should continue to get better.

Do you mean the flat latch panel? (The black and white photo is from the January 1965 Drivers Manual, it's photos are of the 1964 cars, many are photos of the prototypes).

The more we look.... the more we see.

(By the way the two restoration you are pointing to are now over 15 year old. What we have been looking at today, has far more detail).

    Here are two more originals:

Just so I know what I'm seeing here, are we refering to the different curvatures at the end of the panel, early is rounded, later has a more direct change to the forward direction ?

bingo.......you can find this "issue" on many restored 911..since the correct spare is NLA...have an eye on it at the next porsche gathering.

Thanks, you can bet I'll now look for that on any flat panel car I see!
