    Stacy,
I mean exceptional restored driver. Not an original car that's going to need a paint job and engine rebuild (because of oil leaks) in 5-10 years.

    Bryce,
True to the spirit of my post I haven't received one PM or email about the car. I suspect because most of the people in this community are not retail buyers. And I certainly believe most of the regular posters here are affluent guys who could easily be BaT commentators but they have "evolved".

I'm just not sure most early 911 buyers come here to buy.

    Interesting question.

    Or hopefully more upside.

Or perhaps some folks couldn't care less about "upside" and just want to buy a fun car?

The buyer could come in person, decide to pick on whatever, haggle some more, and you're now wasted $100 and a week? is there any sort of obligation to buy or refund from BaT ? Not asking for my 911 (but for my Alfa GTV - seemingly the single most common car there, which in itself gives me a bad feeling).
Greg, BaT, at the ending of an auction, puts the winning bidder in touch with the seller. That's it, no more. BaT does not get involved at all with the actual sale/monies etc. The only consolation for a seller if a buyer does not come thru is the buyer is banned from any future BaT activity. The buyer is charged, by BaT, the "buyers premium" immediately upon being the wining bidder so they are at least on the hook for that and helps to ensure an actual purchase/payment to the seller. Tho nothing is for sure, obviously.

To me, there would be no such thing as "post purchase haggling" The winning bid, is the purchase price, and that's final. No one is showing up at my place without having already paid in full, funds verified. If the car was honestly represented in the first place there should be no issue. If attempted, the only way you'd be leaving my property is in a wooden box.

^^^ +1. One other good thing about BAT is that they have already vented the bidder and have good info, credit card etc. on them and you can look up history on most buyers. When I sold my 914-6 recently I was paid via wire to my account in 2 days and the car was picked up 1 week later. Also with a 7 day auction there is time for a serious bidder to come and look at the car or have a PPI done. Buyer was very happy with the car!

Frank -- don't underestimate the power of selling/promoting on Early S. No one has contacted you in the three days since you posted -- that is only three days --

BTW, I agree with @69SMan -- unless the car is an exceptional T, I don't see how you can get over $85k for it. Anywhere.

    85? lol

    Good one!

On a regular basis I have customers drag in 2.2 and 2.4 chit boxes that they paid $45-50k for. They leak oil, crunch gears, have poorly redone interiors, and they're on their second or third bad paint job. These people pay me to correct the mechanicals and some of the cosmetics and end up spending 20-25k just to make a safe, enjoyable but mediocre car.

To think a fully restored matching number, 3 owner 2.2 T coupe with fac sport seats and a warranty is valued at 85 is a complete joke.

    But...

I'm confident that the real buyers will soundly let me know if I'm right or not.

MUCH worse people than Dave to spend money with...

Nothing I like better than a throw down.

I've decided to post on ESR tomorrow. If only cheap bass turds surface then I'll go to BaT.

    Let the games begin.
