    Starter Rebuilders

    Hey all;
    Seems lately that the number of electric/auto rebuilders are diminishing greatly. Does anyone know of a good Bosch starter rebuilder that is still in business today. I looked at older posts and called a few noted - however they are not longer in business. I have 2 starters from SWB Porsches and would like to retain and use these if at all possible.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Mark:

    I've had very good experiences with ABC Partswerks in Naples, FL. They rebuilt both the original starter and alternator for my 1969 911S. Their phone number is: 920-378-5538.

    Good luck,

    I would assume that you are aware that there are high-torque starters that weigh significantly less than the Bosch unit and will plug & play with our cars? Less draw on the battery is another feature.

    For the sake of originality, a lot of owners will put in the high-torque unit and hold onto the Bosch starter if someone wants 100% correctness down the road. Although I have heard that the judges generally won't ding you in a concours for this upgrade.

    I only bring all of this up because I just had a very pleasant experience with HIPERFORMANCEUSA on eBay who has been selling remanufactured high-torque mini-starters for several years there with a very good track record.

    [I have NO AFFILIATION with this seller.]

    There is a great place in North-Hollywood/Burbank which my friend used for 40+ years while running his shop. Th name escapes me but I am sure some of the members from that area will know.
