    CV joint experts?

Pulled my cv joints apart to re-grease and change the boots. I am seeing some wear on the inner housing. At what point should they just be replaced? This is not going to be a race car.

Recommendations on replacements would be helpful.

    Thanks

Scuffing and some loss of the oxide color on the housing is to be expected.

Check the cages for lipping or cracks, and check the balls for chips, pitting, and/or surface cracks......that stuff is not good.

Replacement? OEM Lobro from several suppliers.

Doesn’t look bad to me. Mine had heavy pitting in that area after 200k miles so I replaced them.

You can switch the right and left axles with the CV's and the wear in the groove will be on the other side , a fresh start for the grooves , not for the balls .

    LOBRO is now GKN-LOBRO

Quick search, Parts Geek (of all things!) complete GKN-LOBRO axle assemblies, ’65-‘68, $375

I doubt if you’ll find individual joints. If you do, the cost for four will be close enough to the whole axle assembly that the difference is NOT worth an afternoon of grease from head to toe packing and assembling the damned things.....get the new assemblies, bolt up and go!
