FedEx has done a couple for me.

I can’t recall the company name (might have been yellow freight) but if the sender and receiver are close to a serious airport you could consider airport to airport service. For me it was cheaper than FedEx or UPS.

We've used these guys for years, never had a problem. What's nice is they give you several different options with different trucking companies. I've found some companies are cheaper in different parts of the country so having the option is nice.

Estes Express shipped from Eugene to North Carolina and was fairly reasonable.

Thanks for all the responses. I am wanting to avoid motor freight lines. I checked with one and they provide insurance at $.10/pound.

If anyone needs info on how to crate a motor I wrote an article years ago. My crates have gone all over the world and hold up.

If you want good insurance, Fed Ex Ground and UPS both offer LTL services that are quite price competitive. I've shipped motorcycle engines with both.

I just did one for a 912 engine. The osb was scrap so it’s not pretty but arrived safe and sound. Core engines just get strapped down and covered with a tarp unless buyer pays for a crate. It’s easy but still takes time and the wood actually cost something these days. Name: AA41B471-12DD-4AF4-B8D3-5D89D17EA566.jpeg

As an aside, and not really relevant here, but if you ship across the Canada/US border or US/EU you have to certify the source of your wood for the crate (or have visible stamps). In the picture I posted, it's all expensive plywood and other lumber because of that. Gotta stop pests from travelling between countries!
