100,000? I wish so too but according to this that’s not the “case”.

    Very pretty.

I’m guessing that case is easily double the weight of a mag case.
What are you hoping the weight is once finished?

    Frank.

    Thank you.

We are aiming for the same weight as the Alu. early turbo alu. cases.

That’s a beautiful piece. And no relationship to Catorce’s project on Rennlist?

Catorce is "casting" cases. Regarding cast vs. billet, I'll take billet every time. Lots of metallurgical issues to be "learned" in casting. Billet is many times stronger and CNC accuracy is unparalleled. A cast piece still has to be machined.

Me thinks the billet case will be a pig. No way can they get it close to a fac case.

For some reason the OP continues to avoid my original question: Since sand cast cases are very plentiful and bullet-proof why go through this exercise? And in light of that why would the sanctioning bodies approve a billet case?

For when there are "no more" and you're tired of paying the machine shop to fix it. Tommy's input regarding finding one in good condition is reason enough. Sandcast is still not billet.

Top teams in drag racing use billet. If you want to make real horsepower the blocks, heads etc. are billet. FWIW; Viewed a 2,000 HP 4 cylinder Mitsubishi today! World record holder. 6.2 @ 225 mph.

CNC has come a long way in a short time. Casting is fine IF you have the facility and the ability to perform processes like HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing)

    Cheers!
