Restoration question 68 911S turn signal body encloseures

This 1968 911S that I am doing a cleanup/re-restoration on after some previously spotty work has the front light boxes blacked out.
The rears are painted body color with no black out. Can anybody tell me what is correct?

the turn buckets on all SWB cars should be body color. They often rust and look ugly so sometimes people paint them black just to clean them up but its not correct.

Isn't it the case though, that the area behind the horn grill was black from the factory?

Indeed brushed black by the factory, at least on an early model 67 S.
