FS: Early 911 aluminum wood steering wheel

For sale is a very nice original VDO early 911 aluminum steering wheel. If you have the right car and are considering purchasing one, perhaps you have already educated yourself. If not, there is a good thread in the forum about these wheels. Buying an aluminum wheel requires significantly more discretion than the later steel version. That is because the spokes are anodized aluminum. You must find one that has not been bent and ideally one that has not had the spokes painted over. If they have been painted you would not be able to identify any stress fractures and you cannot recreate the original finish.
The wheel for sale is very straight and very original. It has the original black anodizing on the spokes. The wood is very good. I am not able to be certain whether it has had another coat of finish added. If so, it was minimal. It looks like a wheel with the original finish but almost too good to believe it hasn’t had a light coat of protective finish on the wood. Hopefully, the photos will show enough - but I will be happy to email or send additional ones. $3750
Price is plus shipping and fees.
