Simple. Buy a new engine size badge. It’s a two piece affair; the plate that attaches to the grill and the numbers that attach to the plate.

Nick, do you have a source for the plate?

A 1971 did not have the engine badge.

I just looked in my drawer of small parts and found a plate and a 2.4L badge. Now that I think this through, I believe I got the numbers from Aase or Stoddard, and likely 3-4 years ago when I was buying parts daily for my ST build. The plate that attaches to the grill that I found is used, so it’s more than likely that I took it from the grill that I deconstructed for my ST.

Looks like Simon is has a 72-74 faded black anodized grill and that’s correct, the earlier grills are badgeless, so the question about the repair makes sense.

PS the holes on the top edge of the plate were drilled by me. I had some sort of grill badge I was trying to affix to a grill somewhere

    Two ideas:
First, as has already been said, find a grille badge you like that covers the holes and install it. This is the easiest solution and will look good too if you pick a badge you like.
Or, if you want a grille without a badge just fill the holes with something like bondo, smooth it to almost the same height as the grille fins, sand it carefully when it's dry and paint it (air-brush, spray can, Q-tip, etc.) to match your grille. If you are careful someone will have to look very closely to see the filled holes.
