    Real RS Steering Wheel Question

Ok so from reading about RS steering wheels on this site I have concluded that the part # is 914.347.806.10. Now here is where I become confused, the date stamp on some of these go back to '70 -'71 and then all the way up to a '73 date. Now the earlier dates were also used on 914-6's so it is hard to confirm that these earlier dated wheels were actually on an RS unless they still had there plastic horn pad or the original owner could verify. So that brings me to this conclusion in that any 806.10 wheel that was dated late '72 - '73 and still had the flat (not dished) top where the part # is located is for sure an RS wheel and not for a 914. What do you guys think?

I guess I pissed off all the steering wheel experts with my last thread on an original 914-6GT wheel. Anyway I have a 806.10 with a flat top and a 911 cancel ring dated '73 that will be for sale shortly and I was trying to confirm that it was a real RS wheel so I know how to price it.

I don't think i understand your question Mike.
There's an elaborate topic on here that confirmed that the *806* wheel is generally considered 'the' RS wheel, because it was confirmed by RS owners as fitted, but since Porsche never wasted stuff, the wheel was earlier already used on the 914/6 and on certain sport variants. Does it matter if yours was fitted to an 914/6 in stead of an RS, is that the question?, because due to the part number it wouldn't make any difference for me from a value perspective. But maybe for others that provenance does....

No I guess I am asking if you have an 914.347.806.10 wheel dated for '73 and it has the flat (not dished) top where the part number and date stamps are along with the counter sunk holes for the 911 cancel ring then for sure it is a real RS wheel right? Because with the late date '73 the 914 wheels had the dished top and no counter sunk holes for the cancel ring.
