How was the trunk carpet on the two side pieces installed in early cars?
Was it glued in along the sides or did it just lay in place?
Were any of the fender bolts used to secure it?
This is a 1967S

You're right Jim, it's a SWB car, 1967. Any advice on the carpets?

67 were glued. Use sparingly and allow access to fuse box, etc. Your existing trunk should give hints unless it has been stripped.
I've seen cases were the glue wan't so sparingly used -- loads of it dumped on the fuel filler tube and vent tube and lines. Question: Do you do the same for an authentic restoration where you've spent so much time detailing the trunk? I use small Velcro tabs to hold the side panels in place.

If possible, it would be very helpful to add pictures of both the traces of glue in the trunk and the traces of glue on the carpet on an all original/survivor car.
For me an authentic restoration is providing a car as it left the factory: with glue/NO velcro.
If you just want a clean and functional restoration you can do what you want...
