Thread: 1968 rear Caliper ID. Help appreciated

  1. #31
I can't figure out how to fix the orientation on the pictures. Sorry. I took these this morning (hard to find time in the garage lately). I sent the rear calipers back to PMB to hopefully get the correct ones, although I know with the holidays and whatnot, it'll be a bit. I got started on the fronts, took the calipers off and drained them best I could. Bleeders are rounded off, so hopefully PMB will have better luck getting them off. Going to replace soft lines, hard lines, rotors, and bearings, and put the new front calipers on. Also have a new master, but I don't know if they replaced the master with something else when they did the rear end shenanigans, so that may be the right part, too.

On the positive side, the wheels are all date coded correctly in the same month, so thats cool. Also, the interior is in great shape! If I was going to keep it, it was to become a hot rod, so I would offload the Fuchs and front seats for some 7r replicas and GTS classics sport replicas.

I am still trying to figure out the vintage of the rear suspension parts so that I can get the correct brake lines, seems like they changed every couple years!

The rear trailing arms appear to be 72/73 but I would need a good, well lit picture of the shock mount to be sure. They are 69 thru 73, anyway. The brake lines are all the same for those years.

    Regards

    Jim
