    Congratulations.

By the way I'm no expert on 72 T but recall from inspecting a friend's calendar 71 model year 72 S the earlier front S spoilers that model year were fibreglass -- before they changed to steel. Think date and or chassis number of that change was referenced in the workshop manual and in a thread here. Your prerogative to change bumper spoiler but mention this in case it affects your decision to change it pre paint.

The S spoiler adds a good measure of stability at the front end. It's amazing how even that small a lip helps.

Thanks, Steve. You and one other both made me aware that the earliest S bumpers were fiberglass. While my car is apparently rather early '72, the info I have on the original build spec so far does not indicate that the car was originally optioned with an S bumper. So I strongly suspect it is aftermarket. But I will check it closely once the car is home, just in case.

I'm not opposed to having it, I know it is functional. But unless I have lucked into a factory 'glass bumper, I'd rather have steel. And a steel S bumper is generally a lot more expensive than a standard part. We'll see how I feel about that later after I have the car.

Dave, I don't know if I can help much in your quest. Again, I'm working from pictures and written documentation, and I can't seem to find a picture of either the paint code plate or the door jamb sticker right now, I'm trying to get those from the seller now.

Here's the deal - the car's delivery date to first owner was 04 Oct. 1971. The production info I've been given gives a Dealer code of UAT, which I've been told is Los Angeles/Tourist delivery. So perhaps it was picked up at the factory? If so, build date was probably 09/71.

In any case, the paint code given in the verbal data is the '71 code of 8080, not either of the 9xx codes. Now, I will grant that the data I've been given may not match the paint code plate, as I know those sometimes got changes made on the fly. But perhaps really early build '72s still had the older '71 paint?

Will revisit this once I get the pictures.

Dave, I found pics. The actual code on the plate is "925 9-3". VIN "911 210 0317" with build date of 08/71.

Close to 5 weeks later, the car is still in the SW desert. But the pan replacement is in the last stages. Will be looking for transport to Oregon soon.

Indeed. Working A/C is/was a requirement for whatever early car I ended up buying to replace my '84 Carrera, as summer road trips are definitely part of its future.

But while factory A/C was on my "wish list", I didn't really expect to find a car with it. I figured I'd end up with either no A/C or (worse) dealer-installed. I would have rather bought one no A/C than one with dealer installed, most of those are hack jobs. I figured that I could take my time and do a much cleaner job than most of the dealer jobs I've seen.

So having factory is a pretty big plus for me.

One month later (to the day!), the car is still in NM. But transport is scheduled to pick it up tomorrow, or Tuesday at the latest. ETA here in Oregon early the following week.

Current status is reported as: front pan repair is complete, as well as a couple odd holes from a prior alarm system welded up as well. Car runs and drives, although stopping is handbrake-only right now. Charge warning light does not go out while the engine is running, so the alternator and/or regulator need attention as well. Tires are recent, so it should be somewhat road worthy after a complete brake restoration and the charging system is repaired.

    Since everyone likes pictures...

I saw that when it was for sale on Pelican. Good luck with it.
BTW, if that red light is blinking it could just be the case you have the parking brake lever pulled up and not have an alternator or
    charging issue
