Without stepping on too many toes why are people cutting corners on such an important feature? The fakes are easy to spot.

I can see 912 owners cheapin out on this but with the average restored SWB 911 value at 100k+ why not step up and buy NOS or really nice used? This is not the 80's or 90's where people bought crappy 356 repro parts because the cars were "only" worth $20k.
Warning! If I crap on you it’s not on purpose.

I often buy parts I think I need but find out I already own.

I think there's plenty of US rears in the marketplace, as long as you're willing to wait, do a little bit of elbow grease and perhaps pay a little bit. In regards to the fronts, there's many different versions of originals imho. It's hard to find a good set of US versions that match unless they came off the same car. I've got quite a few (I have too many swb cars) and still searching. Without having them all in front of me and taking pics, I believe there's both tinted clear plastic versions and some with color through the plastic versions.

And, no I'm not going to make something where there is multiple versions in the marketplace and I don't believe another version will find it's way to the marketplace given the amount of options available. Though it could change if the mold breaks as has happened in the past (from what I've heard).

My take on either lwb or swb lenses is that there's at least couple of versions of each. I believe that every large vendor uses multiple suppliers and they interchange their stock depending on pricing and availability and don't change their description or pictures of the product. So.. whatever you bought 6 months to a year ago might not be the same stock you buy today.

This post will self destruct in a couple of days.

I have been in search of original lenses front and rear that are in xlnt condition over the last year and haven't seen any that work for me. The lenses that were on my car were all cracked just like the majority of the ones I've seen for sale in the marketplace section here. I've re-chromed my housing$ and reflector$ so they look great. I would rather use a good quality repop and get the car on the road rather than wait forever for good quality used oem ones to come along. When good quality used ones come along, buy them and swap out the repops. No short cuts here, just being realistic about what's available.
