Thread: Porsche 911 SWB Original Bosch FRONT and BACK TAILLIGHTS NOS

With the color sprayed on they could use the same lens for French and Italian color schemes. I seem to remember some French rear signals but Im not 100 percent on that, I think the rear backup light section is yellow.I looked at all my NOS swb Hella and Bosch headlight lenses and cant find a date code. It seems the 67 type started in 64. The only difference in markings for that type is the mold nr. according to the VW guys.

I've just taken a look at my NOS rear lens (LWB) date code on the box is 041. Apparently the colour is in the plastic. Here are the pictures:

However, it doesn't have any E-markings but instead has a resistance symbol, just like the old lenses on my UK RHD 70E.

Why do some amber lenses have E-markings and some don't?

I can promise you that color will come off with a little bit of acetone and elbow grease. I just turned a set of french lenses into euro lenses a couple weeks back the same way.

    OK thanks.

Regarding the E-marking (E1 inside a circle) on some lenses, here is an example (not mine):
    E-mark example.jpg

The date code on the assembly of this one is 328 which is even older than my 041. I would have thought that resistance symbol were on earlier lenses and E marks on later lenses, not the other way round? Can anyone shed a light?

    Other Question:
Who sells the best repro Front and Taillights ( European conversion )?
I have some from CarPoint in Germany...Long way away from the stock design. Are their better Repros availible.
Or who has NOS LWB for sale?

Nothing great out there right now. There was someone making them with the Bosch logo a couple years back that were being sold by a couple online vendors but they're NLA and story is the producer was slapped down by Bosch.

NOS are available from time to time. Member damsroy on these forums has had some black trim units available recently. Silver trim much harder to find and MUCH more expensive.

The chances of dansk getting them right is mighty slim. Just offering an accurate repro lens would probably cut original light unit value in half. Seriously.

Without stepping on too many toes why are people cutting corners on such an important feature? The fakes are easy to spot.

I can see 912 owners cheapin out on this but with the average restored SWB 911 value at 100k+ why not step up and buy NOS or really nice used? This is not the 80's or 90's where people bought crappy 356 repro parts because the cars were "only" worth $20k.
