Best place to sell 1965 901/01 case?

    Hi,
I've had a 1965 901/01 case w/ matching intermediate shaft, for abt the past 15 years collecting dust. Are these cases still desirable? I realize that I'm never going to get to rebuild it as I had intended. Now I just want to sell it. It should be used by someone who can give it a better home than a shelf in my garage.

Is eBay still the best place to list this thing? It's all crated up and ready to go. I'm taking it to the UPS store on Monday to get an estimate on shipping costs.

Oh, if it matters, the case # is my user name.

    Thanks

    EDIT : spelling.

This is a good place to sell. Go ahead and post a price per forum rules and see what happens...GLWS

    Who knew?
I’m not sure I ever realized that eBay was the best place to sell a case.

Did you get pics before you boxed?

Prices on ebay are all over the place but if you start low it will sell. I just picked up 902120 case set up for 2.5, paid $4500 on ebay. Having said that, I never sell on ebay, too many fees. Try here or Pelican.

Thanks. Problem is that I have been out of 911 rebuilding scene for a long while. I have no realistic idea of what it's worth. I've seen the same 91/01 case appear on eBay for $49k; I know that is unreasonable. But I have no idea if this thing is worth more than the $50 in scrap aluminum anymore.

The fourm rules are fairly clear that each item has a price. Not a range and listed items w/ no price are deleted.

The aspect I like (liked) about eBay was that the market determines the price. I'm confident that if this case is still sought-after, it's worth more than $1k or $2k ; but WAY less that $49k.

I could easily put a price way too low and not realize that I'm shorting myself or I could put a price of $48k and no one would take me seriously.

I know that I've got $1700 in it now; the original $1000 15 years ago and $700 for some work done at Jone's Autowerks, INC. in San Antonio, TX.

Yes, I have several photos of the case w/o the package. I also took some as I was creating it up. I built a wooden frame for it so that it fit snugly in the box. What's the best way to share the photos here?

You can state an optimistic price and add or best offer.

Just as a FYI, your engine case was probably cast in August 1965, assembled into an engine in Dec, and installed in a car about January 1966. There were only about 2000 1965 model year cars, so we would normally call this a 1966 engine.

I’d price it low and let it go to the highest offer above that. Market price is what rules, it’s the price now, not an imaginary figure.
