    Thanks Ed,
    I agree that it is likely an accessory loom, and fog lights it might be.

    HOWEVER, it doesn't match the factory wiring diagram, which is why I am asking here, in case someone has already been there. I have spent the best parf of 2 days on the looms and the factory diagrams, and while some differences are obvious to ID, some like that bakelite connector make no sense.

    My guess is aftermarket period accessory or an obscure factory option, the latter you may have eliminated already if you know what your car came with from the factory

    Electrics, continued.
    The front blinker/horn/fog light/headlight harnesses were corroded, cut and damaged. I guess the left side won't be used again…
    Now the right side is enough good to salvage it, despite one broken screw in the pot metal of the blinker. I changed the brown and yellow wires to the headlight connector. Not fun pulling them through the molded on grommet.
    End result is a perfectly useable harness/blinker. Of course it is a US spec blinker, so I might not be able to use it. Oh well, it'll be of use to someone.
