Oooh, good idea. Could be it. I need to clean it up, but you might be correct. Thanks.

While sunroofs seem to be a love/hate thing in general, I'm in the middle but lean slightly to the no sunroof side. Much like George, it isn't the weight, but the added parts, maintenance and possible leaks that bother me. With the pop-out quarter windows of our cars, I don't think the sunroof adds much.
That said, I'd have to think long and hard before I removed a factory sunroof. A lot of fussy work for little gain.

George, just catching up with the news of your new project. Will be very fun to watch you restore this coupe. I will be interested to see what color you and your young apprentice choose.
I happen to have a collapsible spare on a really nice '14 Fuchs that you might like back for this car. Congrats!
PS You took quite a leap buying from Beverly Hills Beck Haha....

You haven't mentioned your budget, but --- with what you've written/shown so far . . . I presume it's modest, so . . .
With the car all going to pieces, you might consider doing some specific reinforcements to the shell --- rear shock turrets + engine compartment, front strut brace, RS tunnel gusset, beefed-up jack receivers . . . stuff that should be easy-/cheap-enough to do with everything out of the way. And there's always seam-welding . . . certain parts, anyway. And a roll bar to stiffen thins up some more --- but might be a bit much. Best part is most of this sort of work doesn't add much weight
And speaking of weight . . .
. . . You'd also mentioned an alu engine cover --- = nice signature Porsche bit. Any interest in fiberglass fenders? Maybe bumpers, as well? Not sure who the best vendors are for this stuff --- fettling can be an issue, I've read . . . but Porsche did this on their STs. Might be cheaper (+more durable?) than steel, too . . . + would knock off some decent weight
Some threads/posts --- for inspiration . . .

Grorge congrats. The blue bumper is correct. LWB bumpers are 'open' at the leading edge, closed with a trim piece. SWB bumpers have a formed flange.

Hi Brian, good to see you here. The apprentice is quite happy, but has not chosen a color yet (not that I'll let him choose..) 14" spare? hmm, let me think about it. Not using it yourself?
Rick, very good post. Budget is not modest, or I would not be here. Since it will spread over many years, I can manage. Key is to spend at the right time, on the right chapter.
Shell reinforcements are very much in the plan. that '69 lightweight is the perfect car for my ideas, maybe not so spartan inside.
Alloy lid will go on. I see that alloy front lids are also available. Any thought son quality? Same for door skins. I tend to shy away from FG parts, since I have never seen any that are good enough to use without major rework.
Roll bar, likely not. I am not going to drive that fast with that car (others fit that bill).
Techweenie, thank you. Now I know.
