    1968 2.0T SWB German Car

    hello all, I need to confirm if this is a SWB engine , also if possible if the engine is matching with the Vin number of the same car

    Looks like the VIN is consistent with a '68T Karmann coupe...
    The engine falls in line with the VIN as well - Type 901/03

    Yes, I think the engine may be original to that VIN. Both are late 1968 so SWB.
    Can you confirm the engine build # please. It appears to be 15568; I can barely see the 1 and the 6 could be an 8 as well. A better photo would assist me and the database.

    All I can tell you for now is that it was 1st registered in 15/07/1968 in Germany in the name of Dr. Med. Rudolf Kaiser :-)

    The pictures above are from the transmission, an optional 901/03 5-speed. It is correct for a 68T.

    A 1968 would be SWB with 118xxxxx VIN
    A 1969 would be LWB with 119xxxxxx VIN
    Yes, some 1969 model year cars were built in 1968; pretty much every manufacturer starts building the new model year cars about August of the preceding year, and sometimes much earlier. However this never makes them the preceding model year. From 1968 Porsche coded the VIN with the model year within it.
