    I think the only proper way is to give it a DOW treatment.
    Not many do this in the EU,but its a treatment that keep the material "open".
    Closing of magnesium will kill it quick,moist builds up between the layers.
    Here a fan and intakes done this way for me by Herring 911 s in Germany.
