    That's easy.

    Street car.

Far and away more buyers for properly restored 64 street cars than race cars.
Racers buy "hardware" and a fast-pass into prestigious events. (And will pay accordingly.) Street guys buy glamour, status, and a story. And will pay though the nose for bragging rights. (Welcome to the new reality.)
IMHO I believe a high water mark currently for a FIA 64 is maybe $500k? Unless it has extraordinary history.

The real question is this: With the condition and level of race prep does it make economical sense to turn it back into a street car versus what it will sell for as an FIA legal car with history?

It all depends of the quality of the "history" (recent historical rallyes or le mans classic: less important in my opinion, but old like a Targa Florio with a good driver and documented...) and how much of the general car is original to that period.

That is a legendary color on a 911, it flows over the body in such a good way.
I had a’67 SWT in this color that I sold largely because I didn’t like the color. Once again demonstrating my deficiency as an arbiter of taste.

    Cheers,

Personally I'm going to pay more for a car with race history. Why can't we have both? Period race cars from this period are very street friendly. The second I saw race info it peeked my curiosity on top of that it beats talking about date matched wheels

So more to the point what is the history??

$400k seems a bit low for this car no? If this is going to sell for 400 we would all be buyers.

    Who's on First?

    This car meaning 082?

It's not a race car. And doesn't have FIA history.

I was talking a beater 64 FIA car for 400k.

No one would build a race car out of 082.

Driving Solex equipped 2.0 race car on the street sounds like no joy.

I've read the thread wrong. The owner of this car chimed in and said it had race history?

    Edit

    First of all:
when I found the car I was very excited because of the VIN nr.
The car was correct and pretty original, but NOT complete.
It was used, raced and yes it was allready well priced.
The only thing that convinced me to buy it was the fantastic colour, enamel blue and the complete known history of the car.

Correct, it was raced when I found it.
My opinion was that this car deserved to be restored.

I still have the Fia pass and yes it did race at Le Mans in 2000. Also Spa Francorchamps.
2 Original FIA passes with the car…

    Gr,
    Michael
