    I’ve rebuilt many diffs and can’t accept the asymmetrical wear marks as machined. There is no reason for the pressure rings to move inside the housing.

    All my early style 904 LSD's have KAMAX screws. The later style has FBA screws.
    I opened up the NOS later style 904 with the bigger eyelet: The interior is the same in both styles, only the eyelet position has moved. It is in between the differential axles lines now.

    Yes, I think the eyelets were enlarged and re-positioned to improve the oil flow through the differential.
