European Collectibles would have the best view as to what they started with pre restoration. It would be interesting to hear from them and see the before photos.

Jim, sithot's post refers to another car 84932 which has a "twin" out there. Seinfeld's former car has chassis number 84908.

I call cars like that "Spartacus" cars, remember the last scene in the movie where the Roman general says if the gladiators give up Spartacus they can live, and about 5 guys stand up saying they are Spartacus. Every time we have an open house someone walks up to the wall and says, "There are Speedsters up there, you could build a Speedster!" Nope, not off a hinge plate.
Concerning this Speedster, the lawsuit is not detailed on what they are saying is not right about the car, so until we have more info everything is pretty much speculation and since reputations are on the line I don't think anyone should get too crazy in their theories.

Early '58 GT speedsters are steel panel cars. I'm not sure when alu panels appeared. '59 models built in '58 maybe?

Looks like the Seinfeld camp has released a statement,
"Seinfeld’s lawyer issued a statement that the comic’s been working “in good faith” to resolve this “frivolous” lawsuit, adding, “Nevertheless, Jerry is willing to do what’s right and fair and we are confident the court will support the need for an outside evaluator to examine the provenance of the car.”

Since it is now obviously worthless, I would be willing to clear it out of their garage and dispose of it in a most suitable manner. This destructive technique would involve the use of fuel, oil and many sets of tires.

If shipping cost of returning it to USA is too expensive for the parties involved I'd make the same selfless offer and even travel to Essex to do so
To learn there are aluminum panels where steel ought to be..and whether that wrecks the provenance * and * therefore decimate the value
of it ?
