FS: @BaT - 1966 Porsche 911 Crankcase and Engine Parts

I'm not sure whether this belongs here or in parts, but I'm putting it here because I'm not the seller--I'm just discussing it:

At Bring a Trailer: No Reserve: 1966 Porsche 911 Crankcase and Engine Parts

"This 1966 Porsche 911 engine case (*907907*) is an early aluminum example that was acquired as an assembled engine from a real estate developer in Beverly Hills, California nearly 20 years ago. The seller purchased the engine with the intention of performing a rebuild and had it dismantled down to the crankcase halves, cleaned, and inspected. The crankshaft is included along with the rods, flywheel, timing assembly, and oil pump. This early 911 crankcase is now being sold at no reserve in Spring, Texas."

Case has been opened up for 92mm cylinders.

Is the seller part of this community? Very nice shop.

    I agree.

Probably worth no more than $1500 for the whole mess. I may bid just to keep the seller's spirits up.

    Would 907907 be a '66 or a '67?

    The usual table in

Shows the range of 901/05 (Weber-carbureted) engines in 1966 as 907001-909000 so this engine would have been built for a 1966 911.

Too bad Frank, somebody with the Bring a Trailer handle "Guano" already bid $ 2,000.

100mm spigot bore for 92 cylinders = 2.6 liters? What kind of heads would be Best suited?

Will it pass $10k? Crank alone is $3-4k?
