    Cool 30 years with #1099

    Tomorrow, Feb. 11th, I’ll have my ’73S for 30 years… and what a time it’s been

I’m posting this today because I’m meeting my family for a full day at Disney’s California Adventure tomorrow and I’m not sure if I’ll be too toasted to post when I get home………

I posted some of this stuff before but…

    - The ad in the Valley Recycler I picked up at 6:30am and called on when I got to work (no cell phones back then)
I learned later that the engine did not have a rebuild, but the top end was done at 55K.
    The ‘new alloys’ were repops…
However, the car had tinted windows, and sports seats. And later I learned it had LSD. And later I learned they all came original to car.

    - The day I brought it home…

11 months after I bought it I had a left front fender bender. That pushed me over the edge to do the body and paint.
In Nov. of ’89 an ‘engine in/suspension on complete’ body and full Glasso 2 stage w/seals and gaskets was a little over $4000 !!! …

    Cool

After 7 years I bought a real duck tail, had it massaged and matched painted, and it was on the car for the next 21…

    - The unlikely exemplar ‘73S at the Monterey ‘Year of the Porsche’ 1998… a long story...

    - I’ve tried to track the car a least once a year every year I’ve owned… This year it might be 3 times….

    Cool

I can talk and talk about the car … over 1/4 million miles on the chassis/ over 95000 miles on the '2003 2.7 rebuild..

However, it's really been all about the people I've met along the way … TOO many to list, or remember, but it's really the people for sure...

So here's one I LOVE, I've posted it before, this is a pic of my Grandniece Kelsey at about 4….

    Faster Uncle Chuck !!!!!

She’s one of the crew I’ll be meeting tomorrow at Disneyland…

She's now a lovely almost 17 year old...

    … and so it goes

Cheers and here's to many more adventures to come,
    Chuck

Great story, Chuck.... love a happy ending. I'm sure you agree: with every moment spent behind the wheel, living with a great car is it's own reward.

    Drive 'em!
