    Wood dash tape/backing trivia

I am almost done with refinishing the wood dash pieces for my car. Next will be installation. I am curious to see if we can document exactly what the factory used to prevent rattling and attach the wood to the dash.

All my wood pieces have remnants of what appears to be a beige cloth tape (+/- 1 cm wide) applied to the back of them. This does not appear to be double sided tape. I assume this was to prevent rattling? The glove box piece is a bit of an exception. It has two pieces of what might have been double sided tape. See attached picture.

With regard to how the dash was attached, I believe that the type of speed nuts used are currently NLA and/or is superseded to 99959121101. Anybody have experience with this.

Guess not much interest on this topic out there. I ended up finding some white cloth Coromat tape which I cut to the correct width. Did the same with what I assume was the double sided tape on the glove box piece and the long piece. Will post some picture when I am done with the final varnish coat.

I've used double-sided tape; not sure of the brand 3M? You're smart to use something as long as it's not too thick.

Some interest for sure. I am researching all of these techniques to assist in the correct restoration of several early cars.

Probably not correct enough for some, but I found carpet tape worked well, and it is thin.

Was going to post earlier but was travelling... 304598 had the cloth double sided tape... when it goes back I will use a similar tape... fine art shops have something that seems to be close (thickness wise)... I will post photos when near my computer...
