    Porsche security

What do the members of the most well-known Porsche classic car associations think of the attempt to punish German cars like Porsche with punitive tariffs, because they threaten "national security"?
Does anyone really believe a Porsche threatens the "national security"?

I like this forum because there is no better source for info on old Porsche than here and not for political statements, but when I read about it, I realized again that not necessarily the smartest ones determine our fate.

    Hello Bernd,

As you can imagine, now is probably not the easiest time for political discussions in our country—so I'll avoid that (also in keeping with our kind host's rules).

But I think your post is well intentioned and a reach across the pond to like-minded friends, and I suspect there are many here who don't view Porsches as a threat to our national security and instead see them as part of a very positive, and much longer story between our countries. This too shall pass...

    Best,

    pete

    Dear Bernd,
We currently live in a bizarro world. I used to love to read Kafka, Orwell, Bradbury, Vonnegut etc. , they are no longer in the fiction section.

The US is just looking for fair trade deals, we finally have someone in office that is already wealthy and is not in need of creating wealth through elected political channels. Any angle used to force a fair and equitable deal is fair game.

You won't find too many that feel German cars are a threat to our national security or that they're Gathering privileged information in some grand scheme. The ones who do think that can't afford these cars. They probably more resemble this:

Let me understand this; the country with the largest economy in the world, with over 600 billionaires and home to the 10 largest companies by market capitalization has gotten beaten up in trade deals?

    Hallo Mike Fitton,
I do not think that every means is right, especially not among allies. Porsche does not threaten national security. That is nonsense. Porsche is so popular worldwide because they are technically excellent vehicles and even fifty-year-old 911s still work reliably and therefore have their followers.

Germans can build cars and machines, Americans have Google, Facebook and Amazon. If one includes their services in the balance sheet, the imbalance looks much less dramatic and both countries are almost on a par with one another in trade.

    Bernd,
Exactly , no one looks at balance of payments, only widgets.
Also most of these large US companies take all foreign revenue and filter it to Ireland, Isle of Man, Luxembourg, do I need to go on?
I just saw that Amazon, makes 11Billion dollars a month in profits, and has paid 0$ in taxes the last 2 years.
