Transmission Mount - rebushed by Ed Mayo

I want to thank Ed Mayo for providing a needed service in re-bushing my 911/901 transmission mount with factory rubber.

Ed will clean up and powder coat the metal, then install rubber bushings for a nice factory feel and appearance.

See the photos below. Excuse the dust, I had just unpacked the mount.

Thanks Ed. Your service and advice is very helpful to our community.

Looks good! Although I do (easy to change) motor mounts as routine I've never changed out tranny side, how do you know if they're worn and need replacing? Or is it that the rubber breaks down after 50 years?

There are a couple of symptoms:

    - the rubber bushings will contain numerous cracks from age.

    - the rubber will sag and lose it's original shape.

    - shifting is not accurate.

... and depending on your car, driving style, daily driver vs track beast, there are a number of after market tuned transmissions mount bushings from very hard, to factory spec, to softer... I have used the Wevo's in my cars and love them.
