Q: Why doesn't a stereo radio apply to your car?
A: Because it only has a single speaker in the dash!
A circa 72 magazine review of the top of range Blaupunkt Bamberg stereo was for a single front two rear speaker installation. Not very clear photo of the article but original states the three speaker using fader is recommended by Blaupunkt! I posted it here #10:

Still have a variety of vintage Blaupunkt speakers from early 70s gathering dust in storage if anyone needs to go for this 70s 1 plus 2 configuration or has unsightly holes to hide in rear shelf with period correct shelf box speaker of types shown in those catalogues.

Think the item for sale post-dates the longhoods appearing in 73/4 blaupunkt caltalogue iirc. The paper tag on side would as requested help if appropriate to car date were an issue for a quite pricy item.

rear deck stereo speakers were a factory option in '73.....wouldn't they have offered a stereo radio if you could order stereo rear deck speakers?

Black frame is interchangeable with the chrome one so depends on application the radio was used for, someone probably swapped it out.

The appeture size changed in mid 70s along with other details. I've previously posted on this point with comparison dimensions see # 3

The later different size black surrounded is not interchangable

While this particular unit being offered with that prefix post dates longhoods iirc there was an earlier stereo Frankfurt that was contemporary with longhood. Don't recall if that earlier one had a USA market version with e.g. different range and AM FM push offhand. Probably have info among my papers somewhere.

You are wrong, although the overall dimensions of the black surround changed the first ones '73 to '76 had a smaller attaching slots on the inside of the trim piece that fit the smaller dial face. Here is a '74 radio with the black trim piece:

Regardless of how attached it is factually correct that the overall size of some later plates were made bigger by Blaupunkt in the mid seventies as part of a product line refresh. This correct information might be relevant input for people who might take the statement that black Vs silver plate is interchangable totally at face value. The overall size and the aperture hacking nightmare is clearly demonstrated in old post that i linked. In that post the issue of different enlarged aperture size of a cut dash was a problem so I felt it might be helpful to point it out that some later plates have larger overall size as clearly shown on the marked up photo dimensions.

My aim is to avoid confusion and disappointment of a buyer on basis of the interchangable comment expecting every black face plate be identical in every way to earlier ones-- even if they do actually clip on!

Various posts make it clear that the date this particular nice looking radio was made is later than any longhood dob so at least any buyer is aware of that and can decide accordingly. They might too look to overall dimension of plate Vs appeture they intend to use it in armed with fact that overall size at one point change per the comparison picture.
