Interesting. But do we say the item comes from a 911 prototyp car or is a genuine factory original accessories, „to be ordered through some special order request option number“ ?
At least this was suggested and I still doubt this. Still think its period aftermarket tuning, produced in slow numbers and sold by some Porsche dealers.

Just because a part looks a little janky, doesn't mean it isn't Factory. I had a decklid a few years ago that looked like someone made it after taking a weekend welding class. A few months later someone showed me one they had, just like it, said I would never see another. It was a 59 Carrera twin grill deck lid. I said I bet I would see another, right when I got home. It sold quickly, to Friesinger I think, but it taught me to never say never.

    Hi Guys,

an update. Some editions after the article I posted, the Porsche dealer and car racer Petermax Müller confirmed that the whole car was tuned for a client of his. Still unknown ate the details of the build as well ass the source of the lid.- Porsche Museum thinks it might have been made in the factory "special order" department and is checking this. I ordered all Auto Motor Sport editions from 66 now and and will report back with a scan. Best

I pulled one of those 59 Carrera lids out of the mud once, I thought it deserved better.
