I do not want to dirty the post but regarding this image and dealer 115. Had I understood that Hahn was a separate porsche seller? That is why it is not named in this document?

^ Thanks for this—goes with a photo I was looking at for the next issue, which shows racks and racks of Mahle gasburners sitting outside behind one of the buildings at the factory as completed engines are towed by in late 1974.

Hahn was in Fellback, a suburb of Stuttgart, so delivery in the area was nil. But strictly speaking was more of a distributor than just a dealer. On Kardex and some Certificates it is the distributor that is noted, not a actual dealer. Each distributor could be responsible for 30 or more dealers.

After discussing with Al Reed I realize that such wheels will have to be made from aluminum, not magnesium (to obtain the "silver" surface). Fine by me, but can someone verify whether (15") Gas Burners delivered in 1973 were aluminum rather than magnesium, and whether they could be delivered with the finish I am after? A vintage picture or period written documentation to confirm would be very welcome.

Mahle gas burners were painted and clear coated. Please don't take my response as gospel, though. You need to "trust but verify"

Probably melted them down to cast more 7R cases...

So I stand corrected, just checked 72-73 parts book, and the gas burner is shown as available. Never saw any after 71.

    edmayo,

Is this what you refer to as the 72-73 parts book?

    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...4&d=1491848320

    I have a set of these books, and in section 6/4 I find p/n 901.361.017.00 Slotted rim light metal - pressure casting 5 1/5J x 15. I guess that's it?

Suppose very few wanted narrow wheels when they could have 6" and even 7" Fuchs.

Yes, that was buried on the second page, but "pressure cast 5 1/2" light metal" is the giveaway.
