Don, no we aren’t mean, all that much....

You were given ALL you needed to know to get the question you asked answered, then to some of us at least, went off half cocked. Maybe you were having technical issues opening the links, I don’t know.

davep is THE #’s guru here. LOOK at his sig line. He may be able to get you the copy of ‘YOUR’ cars Kardex. All you have to do is reach out.

Sorry, there was no intent to be ungrateful, just frustration.

When I searched the referenced links I couldn’t tell if the information was from Kardex or information to be entered in to Kardex. In reading some of the threads I found where someone (years ago) asked the question “…how do you order a Kardex?”. The rest of the thread talked about Certificate of Authenticity and how to get it.

I have COA on my car, but I’ve heard it may or may not be accurate and it doesn't tell me where it was first sold. Is that a Kardex? Do I enter that as my information and submit (send) to davep?

Don, yes. PM Dave and ask him what he needs and I’m sure he’ll be able to assist you. Good luck tracking that info down and do let us know what you find out. FWIW I have both the COA and Kardex on one of my cars that show the wrong trans#. They transposed the #’s as the print docs have a serial# of 1081239 and the trans has 1081923. I believe that some of the info on the COA’s come right off the Kardex. Dave can confirm.

Get the Kardex I did and it led me to the original owners son who emailed me photos of the car being loaded on the ship being brought to the US.

This site is a wonderful repository of all sorts of amazing information about out cars... you just need to ask good questions and use search (though that can be frustrating)... I have the Kardex for my car, and the CoA... both have the same info and an email conversation with the factory archivists didn't reveal any more info than was contained on the Kardex...
I hope you find what you're looking for...

The factory Kardex is a warranty record card. Each car sold has a factory warranty for some period. In order for the factory, and everyone down to the dealership people that administered the warranty, a record card was made up to contain the original specification and pertinent information needed for administration. The dates on the kardex are the factory invoice date, the date of warranty commencement (date of sale) and sometime the expiry date. The 1969 kardex also has the invoice #. Very few Kardex are fully filled out, especially the early ones; some have very little info, some are blank and some have gone missing. Why are they called a Kardex? That was the trade name of the company that produced the cards and filing system. Many versions of the cards have the Kardex name on them. Why do the image files have Kartex instead of Kardex; no idea, but that is the way it comes to me.
