Thread: How to prevent chemical damage to anodized surface Fuchs at tire mounting

  1. #11
So, if the usual mounting lubricants have etching capability due to alkalinity, what about protecting the anodized surface with a generous coating of vaseline in advance?
Then wiping it clean after the tire is mounted.

Pat Williams secret to black areas on Fuchs is PAM anti-stick spray. I kid you not.

    That's a winner.
PAM = Canola Oil, Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Lecithin from Soybeans (non-stick agent), dimethyl silicone (for anti-foaming), rosemary extract (preservative), propellant.
Fortunately, if it accidentally blows into your mouth it has zero calories.

Yeah, I was just talking about the first tire to go on after finishing like OP was talking about. Most local tire shops around me won't take on the job because they don't want to take the risk. So, I drive up to Rothsport and have them do it.
