    911s 1966 built MY 1967

    Hello all
I have a question about steering wheels for the first 911s
Where they only in wood rim and later leather covered rims ?
    Thank you

    That's my understanding.

The '65 & '66 911s had wooden steering wheels. The 912s had hard rubber steering wheels. Wood was optional (DM 150/US$ 37.50) for 912s.

In '66, the "batwing" horn button was standard on the 911 and optional on the 912 (DM 21/US$ 5.25). That horn button might have appeared on 911s sometime in the '65 model year but most '65 911s have the "hockey puck" horn button.

The leather-covered steering wheel was introduced in the '67 911S:

I was just watching this video with a 1967S which has a wooden steering wheel , can anyone give me some information if early S did start off with a wooden steering wheel prior to changing to a leather steering wheel ?

It is more likely that it was optioned with the wood steering wheel. I see that option on early 1967 model Kardex.
