BaT Description:
This 1969 Porsche is one of 858 911E Targas built for the model year and was produced on October 25, 1968. Power is supplied by the original fuel-injected 2.0L flat-six, which is paired with a four-speed Sportomatic gearbox. The car was repainted in a dark metallic blue during previous ownership and is equipped with sport seats, 15″ Fuchs wheels, and a MOMO steering wheel. Over $18k of maintenance has been performed during the seller’s three-year ownership, including transmission work, installing a new oil pressure sender, rebuilding the shifter and CD ignition box, installing new rear wheel bearings, and more as outlined below. This 911E is now being sold at no reserve with service records from the seller, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Irish Green, the body received a repaint in its current shade of blue under previous ownership. The passenger door was refinished by the seller, and noted imperfections include crazing on the driver’s door and passenger-side rear quarter panel. New seals have been fitted on the black targa top, which is pictured both on and off the car.
15” Fuchs wheels wear 185/70 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 tires at all four corners. Euro-spec H4 headlamps have been installed, though the factory-optional fog lamps and roof ski rack have been removed.
Black leatherette sport seats are complemented by matching carpets and door panels. A MOMO Gotham steering wheel and Sony head unit have been added, along with under-seat speakers and a new antenna. The rear shelf is warped. Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing under 93k miles, approximately 5k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The injected 2.0L flat-six is paired with a four-speed Sportomatic transmission. The CD box was rebuilt, a new oil pressure sender was installed, and the gearbox was serviced and fitted with new seals in April 2019. Subsequent compression test results are said to have yielded between 160 and 175 psi with less than 3% leakdown across all six cylinders. Several invoices provided in the gallery document additional maintenance during the seller’s three-year ownership, including a replacement alternator, fuel expansion tank, rear wheel bearings, and more. Stamping *6298118* matches the number listed on the Porsche CoA confirming the engine as original.
The Porsche Production Specifications certificate lists the original colors, optional equipment, and engine number.
